Add A Stock Size To Bindery Relations

You can add a stock size to relate to all of your bindery options or select a few to add a size to.  You will want to add a relational size to a bindery option if that size will need to be priced differently than other sizes.  If the new size will not need any special pricing considerations than you do not need to add it.  PSM will use another size that is close to it for pricing.

If you do need to relate a new stock size to one or more bindery you will first need to enter the size you wish to add.

When you click Continue You will be able to select the stock to relate to the bindery option at that size.  You can select more than one stock and more than one bindery option.  If your not familiar with this operation then you should probably not select more than a couple of combinations at this time.

On this form you may select as many combinations as you wish but if you select more than a few the operation could take a while to accomplish.  Try only a couple until you get accustomed to the process.

At the top of the form you will see the size you are adding.  10 x 12 in this case.  On this form you will see that there are 219 sheet stock names defined and 76 bindery options defined.

In our example we will select only one sheet stock, 100C Accent CVr.  We have decided that because of a unique service or product that we sell to one or more customers, we need to price 10 x 12 sheets bound into booklets using coil binding.  If we did not add this size to our definitions the binding process would probably be priced the same as an 11 x 17 booklet.  We also select, under the bindery names, all the Book Bind Coil options.

This gives us 4 combinations.  If we had selected another sheet stock we would have had 8 combinations and the process would take twice as long.  The next step is to click the Add Records Button.

The first message tells us what the process is about to do.  The second message tells us how many records are left to write for the remainder of the selected sheet stocks.  The third message tells us that the process is copying values from a relation of the same stock at a larger size into the new relations record we are adding.

This message just informs us that we are about to see the values in the relations records so that we can modify them if we wish.

In the Stock to Bindery Relations form we can see the values for the new size and the values for other sizes.  Here is where we can change the value of the new size we added if we need to.

When we close the form used to enter or view the relational values the process will continue to the next selected bindery option or stock option and continue until finished.

***** TIP ****   with each message shown you do not need to click OK or Close to move on, you can just press Enter on your keyboard to accomplish the same thing as a click..
