Fields:
Order
The order the presses will appear in a drop down control. Placing a zero in this field will cause this press to be the default press on the work sheets and first in a list of presses.
Towers
This represents the number of cylinders which a plate can be mounted on. It also represents the maximum number of colors per pass.
Max Stock
Width - The maximum stock width that can be ran through the press.
Length - The maximum stock length that can be ran through the press.
Max Image
Width - The maximum width image that can be transferred to a piece of stock on this press.
Length - The maximum length image that can be transferred to a piece of stock on this press.
Perfector Check Field
If the press is capable of being a 'Perfector' this field should be checked. If this is checked, then this option will be visible on all templates that use presses. If the Perfector check-box is checked on the template then the press will be used as a Perfector.
Tower Setup Box Fields
Tower
The towers are numbered 1 to (Towers) the number of towers on the press. Towers can be added to the bottom of the grid until you have defined all the towers on the press.
Setup
This is the charge required to set up each unique tower. It can include the time to mount the plate or any time spent that is specific to this tower and not charged on another operation. The setup charge for tower one will also include time spent in general press setup.
The time spent preparing a ‘T’ Head will be covered on tower two. Each tower can have a separate setup charge.
Minimum
The minimum press charge associated with each tower. If the press needs a minimum charge it will be assigned to tower one. Each subsequent tower may or may not have a minimum.
Factor
The basic press rate is multiplied times this factor to produce the press rate for the individual towers. The Factor for tower one is always one.
Start Quan
This is the starting point for the factor to come into effect. On the first tower this is always set to 00. On the second and subsequent towers this number represents the point at which the tower factor will come into effect. Foe example, if the factor is 0.5 and the start quantity is 500, the second color charge will be the same as the first color for a job below 500 and will be 50% of the first color for jobs over 500. This is primarily used by presses that use a T-Head. Modern printers usually set this number at 0 for all towers.
For example:
If the Factor is .5 for tower two, and the Start Quan is 1000; the press charge will be the basic press rate times one unless the quantity to be printed exceeds 1000, it will then be .5 times the basic press rate. If the factor is 0.00, there is not any charge for tower two. Only tower one will be charged for the press charge.
Press Rate Table
Quantity Column
This column can contain any number of quantities that can be added, deleted, or changed. The quantity that cannot be changed is the sheets per hour quantity. It is suggested that at least three quantities are used in the table.
Price Column
The values in this column show the price of the given quantity. If you change items in this column, the Rate per 1000 column will automatically re-calculate when you de-select the item you edited.
Rate per 1000 Column
This column displays the rate per thousand at the given quantity and price. The entries in this column may also be changed, which will cause the price at the given quantity to be re-calculated to match the rate per 1000.
